Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park
Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park is arguably the jewel of Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage area, and one of Australia's most beautiful national parks. From the jagged peaks of Cradle Mountain to the mirrored waters of Crater Lake.
Lake St Clair is one of the largest lakes in Tasmania with stunning views of Cradle Mountain’s ridges. The snow-topped mountains are surrounded by waterfalls, meadows and rock pools.
Cradle Valley contains historical Aboriginal sites which can be explored whilst hiking, and is home to a variety of indigenous wildlife species, including platypus, and Tasmanian devils.
Strahan
Strahan is on the edge of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and is the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Franklin–Gordon Wild Rivers National Park.
The town is steeped in stories from convicts and pioneers, with Macquarie Harbour formerly being a Penal station.
You cam also experience a steam train journey from Queenstown to Strahan, which includes stops for rainforest walks, panning for gold, and wild honey tastings.
